Help! Prom Chip question
Help! Prom Chip question
Hi all.
I have ordered a new prom to be made for my 86 305 TPI Trans Am. It has a Holley Stealth Ram. So thats why I got a prom made for the cold start issue. The Holley does not have the extra injector. So I got one made for an 88 model.
Question is when I went to change it, I saw that the one in there is a Hypertech Performance Chip. When I put in the new AC delco one, it staters when you rev it and seems to be like its running way to rich.
The only thing I can think of is the last owner has put in bigger injectors and the new chip made for the 19lb ones is making it run rough.
Any other ideas at all?

HI, and thanks for your post.
Yep it has 22lb injectors. (well there are 3 that are 19lb Bosch ones) but it has 22lb ones.
So from here I can install my 19lb injectors and the stock AC DELCO chip
or
Leave in the Hypertech chip and order a set of 22lb injectors
Any thoughts?

the AC delco is a better chip than the Hypertech, you can run the bigger injectors (if you want to) but you have to change the injector constant in the new chip..........good luck with your ride
So os the stock AC Delco chip better? I know it's all marketing and stuff, but when I went to the hypertech website is reckons that there chips impove the fule tables and timming advance over the stcok. I was worried that the stock chip might be a step back, but if the Hypertech ones are much to rave about then I'll go AC Delco.
Also is there anything to gain by going to the larger 22lb injectors when you have the prom set up for them over the normal 19lb?
