upgrade tpi intake
I've been looking at a stock tpi steup for my 383. I want to upgrade it by adding the extrude honed long tube runners. should i also look to upgrade the lower intake? if so which brand

IMO > I would get a set of runners than can be siamezed. Like the edlebrock or SLP ( in that order) With the more air you need , it is nice to be able to get it be siameseing . I went 4 "deep on mine . SOme have litteraly gutted them out with great success.

i agree on the SLP and edlbrock, TPIs also makes a good runner.
go with the accel/lingenfelter big mouth base also from TPIs.

The TPIS Big Mouth is an Edelbrock casting cleaned up. The TPIS LTRs are AS&M LTRs repackaged. Happen to be my favorite stock looking configuration (AS&M + Big Mouth). The AS&M semi-siamesed runners are king shiit, but does not pass the stock look test. For a 383, unless you are going for the look, I'd pick a converted or custom intake, or -gasp- the PITA super ram. Unless you don't need to be 49-state legal.
