This is strange.. anyone else have this happen?

The other day I unhooked my distributer ECM wire (the one you unplug to time the motor) so I could time my motor and of course the RPM's dropped down and it ran a little sluggish but before I could point my timing light at the tab my headers started glowing (it was fairly dark outside) I quickly shut it down and let it cool a little before I 'guessed at the timing and let it go.
I am trying to figure out how timing could make the motor 'go lean' like that.. anyone ever experience this?

is your balancer accurate?? maybe its not really at where it indicates? timing being way off could cause that too...

Thanks thirdgen88, I think I 'may' have found the problem.. I was pokin' around my motor today and noticed my o2 sensor wire was unhooked... I either did it (unhooked it) this morning or else it was that way when the motor leaned out. I have a broken connector so it comes unhooked pretty easy.
Thanks agin..
