Make your own! I'd guarantee over half the people on this board with CAI's, made their own and didn't buy one. Will perform the same and save you loads of cash. PVC pipe from Home Depot, and some plumbing couplers, and a universal conical from, say, Autozone....seem to work great. Don't make a metal intake, they get heat soak, plastic is the way to go.

I took the easy way out and bought the SLP. That all I could find for a trans am. I really didnt want to make mine. I like the SLP, its a really good set up. Plus it looks good and was easy to install.
I still have my stock set up if you want it. Some people like to try to make one, like trying to cut the stock housing.

move???? Out to the trash. Your suppost to move it to the drivers side. I said nope...and took it right out. Cut the wires, taped them up good. Plugged off the lines and was good to go. Never through any codes.

How does a metal CAI act as a heat sink?

My charcoal canister is long gone as well. I dont think I know anyone who still has it actually.

This is my custom CAI which I'm gonna get around to replacing soon. It's about as ghetto as they come but oh well. Threw it together a few months ago for $2 (not including filter) and about 5 minutes of time. Kinda looks like ***, works alot better than the stock airbox though.

Metal more readily absorbs heat than plastic
