Distributor Problem?

So, my distributor in my 86 IROC TPI went bad and i replaced it with a distributor out of an 86 monte carlo SS, would that cause the injectors not to fire. Is there something to do with the ignition control module not working/not there? So if the monte carlo one will not work, what are some others that would work? Thanks

Are the distributor connectors the same? With the same number of pins in each connector?

Yes, the pins are the same, and the same amoutn of connectors, the only problem was that i had to cut out a notch in the plastic, cuz it was on the wrong side, the notch pointed to the bottom (i think) and it had to be pointed to the left, or something minor like that, but it connects good.

86 MC SS would be carburated. The 85-86 TPI distributor crosses over with one other platform... TPI corvette. You can either search for a good large cap distributor from a TPI car, or you can just cut the wires that connect to the distributor and install a divorce coil small cap distributor from any 87-up EFI 305/350. Get the plugs from the donor car and match the colors when you splice the new style plugs into your existing harness. Be warned, TBI modules supposedly aren't set up the same... Something about the TPI module revving higher or faster.

Drew is correct (as usual). The TBI and CCC distributors are taller, and wired differently. That's why I asked if the connectors were the same.

If i were to install an 86 IROC ignition module into the monte carlo distributor, would it function like the iroc distributor?

Also: Drew, i noticed you live in Sioux Falls, as do i. I'm working on this in my garage, thought it was odd that we live in the same place. Thanks for the help so far.
