Torque.

Its not the end all be all engine, but it sure is fun around town and them thar stoplites.

Reliable and semi powerful, good way to burn gas.

With a little thought and money you can go fast without breaking the bank too.

hey guys dont forget that it looks cool too.

plus with all that torque you can outrunn anyone that has the same Hp.
so a tpi with 400-450hp is a force to be recond with
and the fact is with a good combo (and $) thats not that hard.
can we say easy streetable low 12s. and because the rpms never go to far over 5500 rounds decent gas milage.

Yes I love the looks most of all. Plus after I got one....its sort of fun to work on!
Plus like people are saying with a little bit of mods, and a 3.73.........WOOHOO! There sort of hard to beat street light to street light. Headers and a little bigger cam. I have had so many people think my motor is built. Bit its only a 305, look at my mods. People think im joking when I tell them its only a 305.

TPI is easy/fun to work on (compared to LT1/LS1) parts are plentiful and cheap, good aftermarket. They are the link between old and new GM engineering, to me they are rare. They are not the fastest things these days but they are 20 years old (they completely owned the 1980's), with a few bolts-ons you are right there with any Mustang or fourth gen there is.

The reason anyone wouldn't like TPI is because they don't know/want to know **** about cars, it has too many cylinders or doesn't make a fart noise when you gun it. Just my $.02

These engines are fun all around. Like everyone else has said, light to light they are quick. A few mods and your looking at a low 13 or easy 12 sec car. The greatest feeling is smoking a little turboed *****, or a 5.0 that thinks he is a bad ***.

one thing i must say about TPI is that while we might not win as many 60punch races, from a dig there arnt many LSx or stangs that can beat us.
a well moded TPI (given traction) will put down some serious 60' times.

i will be 100% honest, the ONLY reason i do not have a 3rd gen is cause my 88 iroc was hit very hard in the right front.i spent 6 months trying to find a clean iroc or z28 to replace it with.totally buttt hurt i decided to get my silver 89 TA ,which it ran very strong with my drivetrain in it!i am not a pontiac guy, they just dont mean as much to me as z28s do.i then purchase a 91 droptop TA,was working to make it sweet then i had to sell it!so not really hurting for a car cause i had my v8 s10 blazer,a buddy of mine wanted to buy my blazer for ever so it soon left, now i had no car at all l go looking for another 91-92 z28/rs didnt care, they were POS's everywhere i looked so my buddy said he had a 95 formula LT1 m6 at his little car lot, thinking to myself this is the opportunity to try something new!well it had a few probs of course,i cut the air box out added a flomaster and DR's went to the track it ran a 14.2@98.52 in the vegas heat not bad, then it was a problem everyday for 2 weeks so i sell the dam thing found my 96 silver z28 stock m6 car3 weeks later i have been happy since its fast, stylish since i added a few things but i still miss my ol school(high school car) sad in a few ways, everytime i go into a corner i wish i was in the the 3rd gen NO F-BODY can hang with a 3rd gen z or TA impossible!!!!!!i will get another 3rd gen to fully restore with all the goods cause my heart belongs to the 3rd gen RUDY

Interesting you guys think the TPI is easy/fun to work on. I think the system is fun to work on (after I learned what I was doing), but am not a big fan of taking the runners and plenum off and putting it back on again. It sure does look cool, though, especially when you polish it up.

Cheap, pleantiful, and low end torque seem to be the main reasons. For a big block, a TPI is a bad idea. You don't see to many cars with TPIs faster then the 12s.

Are you looking for some type of engine/fuel system to use?
