Help me make a decide...

Im looing into getting a new TB. Which for all your guys experience would work best, a 52mm or 58mm? Ive ordered a set of AS&M runners, working on getting a base, and getting a set of 2055s w/ Hooker CAT back. All these will more than likely go on the car at the sametime. Which TB will give me the best results?

arizona speed & marine makes 54mm throttle bodies for our cars thunderracing sells them. I think 52-54 is plenty for a 350 or even a 355 maybe a 383 with alot of mods needs a 58mm.

unless you have a just plum retarded 500hp 383 you wont need the 58.
also, a tb too big will hert your bottom end.(and that is not something you want in a TPI)

personally....id leave your stock one on (48mm) and use your money someplace else. Like people are saying, unless your really pushing some HP, the stock one is just fine.

Just wondering how the 58mm would effect the bottom end? would it lean it out or what?

Well I found a killer price for a 52mm. If I wont get any gain or possble loss from a 52mm or 58mm Ill just leave a stock one. I will be modding the car just not looking for a 500hp car.

the 52 will be fine and you will see a gane, the reason i said you could lose on bottom end was because i have a 58tb(ill be going to a 383 later) and it feels like i lost some bottom end. now it wasnt much, but it was noticable.
now sence you have the runners(like me too) and you plan on getting the base. all that and a healthy cam would take to a 58tb, but it still wouldnt give anymore power than the 52.

in short go with the 52mm tb

There is only a $10 differance in the 52 and 58. Thats why i decided to go with a 58.

As long as I will be doing the right things w/ what my mod plans are. I dont want to spend money and not see any gains. I think what I have in mind for the car would be good, but since this is my first go round modding a TPI I ask you guys first b/c you've all been down the road Im traveling b4. Thanks

I will be using a 52mm (polished from Summit, $289) beacuse my mods will be the AS&M's, an Accel base that had a 3" port job, an open element filter, and I have opened up the plenum. I want to get the most air without hurting bottom end. I think the bigger is not better theory is becuase if the bores are too big they will slow in the incoming air charge a bit thus nixing some of your tq. I think.
