TPI Strangeness - Timing and VATS
TPI Strangeness - Timing and VATS
Ok... so my ongoing saga of straightening out my TPI setup in my Jeep YJ seems to be neverending.
I started with the engine falling flat on it's face when at WOT. Turns out I had a flaky fuel pump remedied by a Walbro and a new filter. In the interim I also replaced TPS, MAP, IAC and EGR (after a code 32) and the catalytic convertor.
It is a bit better but still doesn't always accelerate as it should and pings...so I go to check the timing.
I unplug the EST and go to start the engine....nada.. just turns over. I plug the est back in and still nothing. So I whip out my code reader and now I have a code 13 (O2), I will replace the O2 later today, a code 36, which I assume is leftover from the EGR replacement (even though I disconnected the battery) and a code 46..VATS.
After the 2-4 minute wait time for VATS to clear it started up.
Any idea if/why/how disconnecting the EST would affect the VATS in any way? The guy who installed this setup put a fuse block with a resistor (not sure on the resistance) to bypass VATS.
I'm going to buy an OBD1>USB cable from aldlcable.com and TunerPro RT software so I can data log and analyze then reflash if needed (like turning off VATS for example) as a code reader only goes so far.
Thoughts?
