Well it has been a few months since I attempted to drive my 86 IROC. I went to start it and right away the fans came on as well as the check engine light. When the car started up it felt like it was goona die as soon as I hit the gas. It will idle not very well but it does idle. I am stumped here. I tried to do the paper clip test with the 5 and 6 pins jumped. With this all I got was a constant on check engine light no codes or nothing. The car is basically undriveable as it sits right now and I have no idea what way to turn. Any help would be greatly appreciated guys.

sounds like a bad ecm / prom calpak.

 

It's in Limp Home Mode. There is something wrong with the ECM or PROM.

 

Since it is starting to look like my computer is it possible to use the computer out of an 1988 tpi LB9 camaro..


Would their be any problems if I were to do this????

the same 1227165 ecm is used from 86'-89'. you are good to go. use it and see what happens.

 

Well I changed out computers and it has not run this good in almost a decade.
