Help me brainstorm
Every single part is new on this build.
So, has my new fuel pressure regulator failed even before starting the vehicle?
When I turn ignition on (without starting engine) and fuel pump primes for 2 seconds my fuel pressure immediately goes to about 48 PSI.
Just as fast as the pressure went up it falls off to zero soon as the pump finishes its priming routine.
two days ago it was only dropping to about 15 PSI with the same scenario and now it doesnt seem to be holding any pressure at all. This is after several consecutive priming attempts.
Has anyone experienced this condition?
If it is the regulator do I have to pull the top of the engine completely down and remove the fuel rails and injectors or is thier a simpler way to change out the regulator. That is a PITA job!
On another note, what would cause my fan to start running as soon as the engine starts or immediately after the key is in ignition position when the A-B connectors on the ALDL are jumpered?
thx
jeff

Hm that is pretty strange, what symptoms are you experiencing? Does your car immediately die after the pressure goes down?
As far as changing out the regulator though, all you have to do is take off the plenum, and the FPR sits right underneath behind the EGR. Just keep track of where all your bolts go, there's more than you'd think. Nothing else has to come off though just the top.

without car even started the pressure reading on the gauge instantly drops off to zero after the pump cycles. System is retaining no pressure at all
thx

About your fuel problem you could test the regulator by pinching one of the lines after she has been primed but I'am guessing fuel is just going back through the fuel pump after it stops working. Mine does this to even with a new pump, not a big deal I think just get your car running and see what it does on a drive.

Fuel pressure regulator is gone.
Check by removing vacuum line to plenum, full of gas and you have your answer.
Injectors are leaking or one or more is stuck open.
Clean/fresh plugs and attempt and pull plugs out to check. Or alternatively remove fuel rail and attempt and watch for leaks.
Fuel pump check valve is shot and allowing all fuel to flow back to the tank while car is off/shutdown immediately upon shutoff of the fuel pump.
Its one of the three.
Narrow it down real quick. As soon as you prime the car clamp off the feed and return lines. If it holds the FPR and inj check ok and its the check valve in the pump. If not its in the inj or FPR
later
