which cam to use?

my stock 88 305 (LB9 engine) TPI has the common 1.94, 1.5 valves. im lookin to get my block bored .060" over, shavin .010" off the heads and porting/polishing the manifold. .350 int .384 ext is the stock lift 179 int, 194 ext is the stock duration, i will upgrade my pushrods and rockers but they will stay the same length and same ratio. now u know my engine and situation, and without getting another computer chip or reprogamming the computer(because the stock one is impossible to reprogram), what is the biggest cam i can put in that engine without messing up the computer?

Get something on 206-212 on the intake and 215-220 on the exhaust would be something I would use. remember stock heads cant really go over about .480 or so on the lift.

Seriously look at splurging a little and upgrade the heads of u can, definitely be worth it.

Look at the DIY PROM board here for all the info you would ever need to tune a prom as cheap as possible, cost you $200 gie or take.

The absolute biggest cam durations are (without doing PROM work) the Crane 2032 cam that I have (214/220 @ .050), or the Comp Cams equivalent cam. You can go with more lift than this cam has if you have the heads set up for it, .550 lift is about all that might be useful with ported stock heads. Stock heads are limited to about .480 valve lift, but will need better springs.

Oh, and the stock heads have 1.84 intake valves. You can install 1.94 valves when you do the head work. Or just buy some new heads with all the goodies there already.

ok so they are not stock then cuz they have the 1.94 valves. thanks for the help guys, i will check out that prom forum but i have a feeling im just gonna bypass it all together
