Vats

Hey, kinda new to tpi, learning a lot really quickly tho. I read on a site tpiparts.net, that the 89 tpi looks for the vats box...i have an 86 iroc no chip in key or anything like that. I also heard my car does have a vats box because it has cruise. so im just wondering if anyone knwos for sure, without me taking apart the dash, if i have a vats and if the 89 tpi would be happy with this older one?

oh the car originally came with the 305 4bbl carb, if that helps.

Your '86 car does not have VATS.
I dont understand what you mean by "if the '89 TPI would be happy with this older one?"
If you're trying to put an '89 TPI system on your car, then you will need a custom chip with the VATS in the chip turned off. That's it.

Vats is completely seperate from cruise control. Like Kevin said you will have to get a custom chip burned to work without vats and your cruise control should work the same as long as you do the proper connections when you put in TPI.
