milky oil; cause?

ok, so ive just noticed a few drops of milky goo in my oil. i dont run my car a lot in the winter (i do try and start it and let it run every week). it is an 87 trans am with a 350tpi from a 91 gta. i hade new heads put on before it went into the car, but i had to have corvette heads as camaro/firebird heads just wernt avalible at the time. as i understand corvette heads have slightly differant angle intake to head bolt holes, so the guy doing the work had to re-drill and elongate the intake holes. could water be getting into any gaps in this area? also i had roller rockers installed and as a result the standerd vaulve covers didnt fit so i got some taller ones. however it didnt have a pcv hole on the drivers side, just the filler cap hole. the hole in the intake where the pcv hose went to was bunged up. so any pressure blows excess oil out of the fller cap. could this cause any problams? i've also used 100 shot of No2 a few times. PLEASE help!! have i got a major problam?

The milky white is oil and water mixed. Warped head or gaskets. Good luck, time to go into engine again.

^^^

Yep, its water/anitfreeze getting into the oil.

Could be as simple as an intake or head gaket leak, or it could be something like a warped/cracked head or even a cracked block!

for starters, i would just replace the head gasket.. along with the intake ones too.. try sealing the intake gasket with silicone on top and under the gasket around the water holes.. and dont forget to change your oil.. if it was your gaskets, then your problem is solved

Which gaskets did you use?

Sealing aluminum heads to a iron block can be a PITA sometimes becuase of the different expansion rates.

If you are not aware they have specific gaskets for and iron-aluminum application!

Before you jump into pulling everything apart I would do a pressure test on your cooling system and make sure you have a leak. If that does not come back to anything I would then do a cylinder leakge test. Check if have air leaking into the cooling system, also check if you hear air coming out of the dip stick. This will leave all doubt that you have coolant in your oil. If none of this is the case then you have another problem with your PVC system. Are you just running the car and letting it idle every week or actualy driving it? Just letting it idle isnt going to do anything. Since you dont Have the PVC hooked up and just letting it idle excess moisture can cause milky oil from not getting the oil hot enough. Change the Oil, hook up the PVC and breather and take it for a good long drive if you dont finr any problems with your cooling system.

I agree with this 1st The short runs and then turning off the motor, isn't all that good. Specially if you store it in the cold weather. Or unheated barn. Cold + hot = condensation.
