HELP! CANT GET VALVE COVER OFF!!!

I replaced the driver side valve cover with no problems. But the pass side is being a big pita!!! I've got just about everything out of the way but their is a huge bundle of wires wrapped in conduit blocking the rear lip of the cover. Can anybody help me figure out how to get these wires out of the way without ruing them??? Thanks!

Grab the bundel of wires, trace it back and see if it is fixed to the block somewhere, back of the head, firewall, On mine I could move it out of the way, and had to fight the smog pump lines a little

Well I traced the bundel of wires and found a ring clamp holding them to the back of the head so I busted that clamp loose. But the bundel is still really stiff and its kinda wedged up with the tranny dipstick and a heater hose that runs into the firewall. This is aggravating the ish outta me!

are you talking about the injector wires? you can move them enough to get the VC off. it's a pita but just lift them up and towards the drivers side and pop the VC off. having a helper would make it easier but it isnt neccessary.

its not so much the injector wires, but the big wire bundle they connect to. Its just sort of wedged up with the trans dipstick and the heater core hose.

If all you need is some room, just pull the heater hose off at the heater core, or take the bolt off that holds the dipstick to trans. bell housing, when you put it back together fix that wire pinch.

What i did was actually bent the heater hose alittle with a screw driver. Then just rip the cover off. The easiest way to reinstall it is to get reusable rubber gaskets, put a little silicone to hold in VC and just push the wires back and put VC back on. It is a pain but its a relief when its done

I just went and put it all back together without replacing the gasket cuz I have to work tomorrow. And damn it leaks like crazy now! I should have just left it alone. But I'm gonna take another stab at it Saturday and let You guys know how it went. There's nothing uglier than having two different colored VC's!!! Not ta mention the oil drip... I'm gonna really have to watch my oil level in the meantime!

Well guys I finally got the VC fixed today! I just had to bend, twist, and yank the living crap out of it, to get it off!! And yes it took a few cold vodka shots and Corona's to get me buzzed and angry enough ta get it off! But I have no more oil leaks and I completely appreciate each and everyone's suggestions!!! I really dont know how I'm gonna survive when it comes to installing my headers.... But thats another story.....
