200,000 miles 2 options...
My motor is at 200,000 miles and I was wandering if I should go with a rebuild kit or a 383 stroker motor. I have limited funds so would I get enough power out of the rebuild or would I need to go 383? Can someone tell me a round about what I would be able to run with a rebuilt motor with a t-56?

t-56's are not cheep put in, about 1500 said and done, clutch, cables, flywheel etc, so if your on a budget, i would say stick to the 700r4. and as far as the engine, well a 355 would be great. no one here can really tell you waht to do because you have not given a lot of detail on your issue. what is wrong with your engine etc.

Well I already have a t-56 that I installed with my father.(runs great) But the motor I believe is all orginal with 200,000 miles on it. I gave it a tune up and all but I'm not sure how much longer I can go on this motor, I know that these motors can last quite a while but I just really wanted to know if I should be saving up to get a 383 and run this motor for like another 6 months or so. Or get a rebuild kit and go that rotute? I'm trying to shoot for a car that can do an 11sec 1/4 or better and still be a daily driver.

I would keep the 350 or roughly cubes. I am not a big fan of the 383. I have owned them and know several people who do. trust me it's no hidden sbc box of power.
what is your hp goal? tq? are you going to go carbed or keep it tpi or use a aftermarket intake?

Is there anything wrong with it? 200,000 miles is a lot, but if the engine still has compression and doesn't leak why mess with it now, especially if money is an issue? Swapping an engine out always costs more and takes more time than people count on, especially for a beginner.
If you're set on biulding/rebiulding the engine, the easiest way is to keep the one that runs fine in it and biuld another one around a core, so the car isn't down as long. As far as the 350/383 debate, it's all in what you want, a small block is a small block, there's a million and one ways to biuld them and a lot of them work well.

Well from what I've heard the 383's were better than sticking to the 350 but thats just what my father's friends tell me. I just want to be able to kick some a** on my friend with his 2nd gen rx-7 turbo2. And snice I don't have a lot of money I'm wandering what I should do? If the 350 can make somewhere around 400hp to 500hp in the end and its cheaper to start upgrading then I'll go that rotute but If I can make more hp with the 383 cheaper than the 350 then I'll go that way instead. But can someone give me some ideas for making some good hp from either one and an estimate of how much it'll run me? I'm trying to stay around $2500. But if I must then I'll find a way to get the money.

what year is your car? a good set of vortecs, nice intake and a 700 or so cfm carb matched up to a nice sized cam can make around 400 - 450 hp no porblem. then you dont need to change the lifters, crank etc depending on your year. now as far as quarter mile times. you also cant forget the rear end of your car. with a t-56 your first gear ratio is a lot higher than the 700r4. the auto is 3:10 and the t-56 is 2:56 or something depending on model of tranny so dont forget about that.

Its a 91 gta. I'm getting 3.73 gears for the rear, and i was thinking of a bigger tb but I don't know how big I can go before I have to get bigger injectors. Do you know what size injectors our cars came with?
