TPI Airfilter Housing
Im curious at what HP levels does the stock black aircleaner housing start becoming a restriction in air and HP. Cause right now with the motor in my sig when you crack open that 1000 cfm TB you can feel that box and the rubber intake hose suck in. With it doing that my motor turns about 7000 im sure its not getting all the air it wants. Also where can you get smooth bellows for a Speed density TPI intake.

Potentially your engine wants more air then your stock air filter assembly will allow in, lucky for you, you have a speed density system.

Have you removed the baffles which are positioned below the 2 airfilters? To see what I mean, remove the air box & airfilters and look down into the square opens. Remove the small screws to remove the plastic baffles.
Also, have you been using high flow air filters?
Next, go to intakehoses.com, and you should find the correct reducer to go between the air box and the TB. BTW: a 4.0" ID rubber tube should fit over the TB.
Next, you can go on the wild side, and cut out the round end of the air box & body filler in a 3.0" or 3.5" OD alumninum tube. I would buy a second air box to experiment with to do this mod. Then buy the correct reducer to go between the new aluminum tube & the TB.

Dont just put a k/n filter on the tb that works but it draws in hot air you dont want that make a good cold air and you will be fine i ran mine down behind the foglight it pulls cold air and stays out of harms way(water)

I dont know what hp numbers its starts to become a restriction. But on my setup, The stocker wasnt cutting it. I did the things doc is talking about and i got a nice power boost from it. I havent any numbers yet to back that up. Ive been working on other things lately. But i consider it one of those must do mods on a highly modified setup like yours.
Do a search on the TPI board under my user name. I tried to document the whole thing as i went. http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/tp...ied-there.html
