tank pressure?

While in stop and go traffic my fuel tank builds up excessive pressure. When I open the cap I can hear it relieve. While this happens my car tries to die on accelration. Today it shut off and wouldn't start until i let it sit for 5 minutes. What do you guys think?

Do you still have your evap canister? Passenger side of engine compartment up front. If so, maybe it has a problem.
Easy fix would be to go to the Autozone or whatever and get a vented gas cap, as the stock one doesn't have a vent.

i am having the same problem with my 87 350 5.7 ltr. tank pressure builds up and pushes gas out the vacuum cannister vent line. I get a code 36 engine light which reads as M.A.F. sensor faulty. I started a MAF thread and got lots of good info. It might help you out. Check out my-roc and you'll find the thread. I still have the problem and am keeping my gas cap loose. I hadn't thought to get a pressure relief gas cap yet. I still need to fix the problem though. Any info will help. thanks Aaron
