Best Cam?

Ive got an 87 lb9 automatic(basicly stock) and i was lookin to swap in a new cam. Im not really sure what one to go with to get the most torque, i heard a new cam could give anywear from 15-50 pounds of torque and over 30 horsepower. Can anybody give me some suggestions on the best models?

LB9GTA has got it right. The xr258hr-10 is a good cam for a slightly modded 305 if you want a lobe seperation of 110. Another good choice would be a 208-212 duration Hyd. roller cam with a 112 lobe seperation and a similar amount of lift, here are some examples.

Comp cams
XR258-10 206 212 Dur. 480 487 Lift 110 lobe sep.
comp computer controlled cam (called something different now) 210 220 Dur. 480 480 lift 112 lobe sep.
ZZ4-cam 208 221 Dur. 474 510 lift 112 lobe sep.
Lingenfilter 211 219 dur. 503 525 lift 112 lobe sep

All of these would work well in a LB9. I hope you have headers and non-stock exhaust? Those are more important for power then a cam swap but these are the types of cams you want if you want a modest increase in power and still drive it everyday. The best cam for "torque" would be the XR258-10 for sure with its 110 lobe seperation, plus this cam has alot more overlap then the 112 lope. seperation cams.
