Polished TPI but Manifold Dark Powder Coat

Hello,
I'm getting ready to buy a big mouth manifold, LTR, etc...

I want to get my plenum ported / polished and the LTR's too...

I was looking at a lot of pictures and you can't really see that much of the manifold anyway (so why pay tons of cash to polish it) just get it powder coated... then I thought... why not make everything under the Plenum black (semi gloss) or something, since it's hidden mostly anyways...

may make the plenum and runners stand out... Any thoughts or pics...??

and my car is black, so engine compartment would complement it...

thanks,

Rafael

You can do everything in black....would look nice.....but if most everything is black, it's all going to blend together.
Personally I think it'd look better if you mix things up just a little. Obviously you don't want it to look like a circus but neither are you going to want everything to disappear.

My car's red. K-member, A-arms, steering brace, sway bar all red. Engine block, pulleys, misc parts are black. WP, plenum, runners, tb, manifold, heads, are polished aluminum. No pics yet. Haven't started assembly yet.

Probably just get the base clear powder coat, since it's new in the box, polish the runners / plenum, etc...

Check out the picture. I polished the plenum, runners and fuel rails, pretty much everything else is black, other than the red stripes. I think it looks pretty good.

Looks like the sides are black too (correct me if I'm wrong)...

I asked the guy who's doing the work, which he would do, clear or chrome powder coat for manifold, he said chrome matches better than clear, but as your picture shows, I don't really see much of the manifold anyway...

I do like the red stripes, but I'll make mine black to match...

Thanks for posting.

Yea, I think the black on chrome is a nice look myself. He also has a few really nice "illusions" black colors that are cool. They are black with different color sparkles depending on what you like. It's really hard to find a chrome powdercoat that looks somewhat decent. Good idea to clearcoat the base. No need to chrome it if it's brand new. Steph

Nice Formula btw... anyhow just to give you an idea of what I've done to mine.. its an 87 Vette. I painted my intake manifold aluminum and the TPI plenum and runners semi gloss black. The 2nd pic you can see the intake manifold if you look closely.

87 Injected, thanks for the compliment (that's 2 this week!
Your car looks sweet, I like the contrast, maybe I'll powdercoat my valve cover's red (it would match my car too!)

I'm legally blind and have no driver's license... I've had and been working on my car for almost 3 years now... just got some Hooker 2055's installed, next week off to the muffler shop for Spohn SFC's and the 3" exhaust!

Then I have to have my dad insure it (uh, they don't give driver's license or insurance to blind people) and hopefully find a good driver to go cruisin!

I still have a bunch of small stuff to fix, but it's ready for the street!
