yea they're a pain. For the last two (the ones closest to the firewall) you gotta get at them from under the car. Im not sure it can be done from above. If it can it would be extra hard.

... I've always done all of my plugs from the top in all three of my 3rd Gens. Now, as for header bolts, I've had to get under the car to tighten a few on occasion.

Is that because you've never changed the plugs?

Same here. #6 and #8 can get a little interesting, but I use the wrench flats on the plug socket and have no problems. #5 can be a little "fun" with the steering shaft and brake system in the way, but it's not nearly as bad as many wrong-wheel-drive (transverse) engines for plug access.

The plugs have been in the same basic position since 1955. It's only the exhaust which has changed.

Yes I agree with Vader. I put the spark plug socket on (with the flat sides)and use a wrench to get the hard ones off. Just the places where its hard to fit a ratchet in.

Its alot eaiser with headers on though!

Nope, it's because I use the right tools for the job.
