Tubing flow
Does anybody know how many cfm a 3" round tube will flow? I was leaning towards a 4" CAI but I may go 3".

Re: Tubing flow
I have a 3.5" CAI on my car. David Vizard has some formulas out but I can't find them right now. Same for the exhaust.
Just for information a K&N airfilter will flow 6.03cfm per square inch of surface area. So don't forget to figure the air filter figured into you CAI system. Also remember there is a cumulative effect. That is the total flow will be less than the lowest flowing component.

89GtaTA - you know my setup. Do you think 3" is going to be enough for my engine or should I go larger?

Re: Tubing flow
If you can go 3 1/2" I would do it. It can't hurt anything and will be of help in the long run with additional mods.
3 1/2" is what size the LT1 elbow is. So that is what GM used.

Re: Tubing flow
I've got a 3.5" CAI setup on my 91 GTA from Fbody Motorsports. I shaved 0.21 in the quarter mile just from that mod. I ordered a few pieces from http://www.intkaehoses.net to build my own CAI setup for my 92 GTA. I have to put the pieces together still just to make sure everything fits properly. I'm going to use an 88-89 TPI Firebird intake elbow and a K & N.

Did you just get a 4" diameter piece of silicone? How well does it fit the throttle body?
