TPI woes
Alright I will start with the upgrades to my 90 camaro 305
1. TBI to TPI swap Using 91 trans am harness
2. Comp Cams 210/220 .500/.510 with correct comp springs
3. Hedman Shorty Headers dual cat y-pipe, dynomax catback
4. Gasket matched and slightly ported Intakes, fully polished exhaust
5. 700r4 swapped to a t5 to match the Wiring harness
6. 3.23 peg leg rearend (was a 2.73)
7. Had to use a hypertech chip to get it to run semi correct.
8. K&N's
Thats all I can think of right now
It is faster than it used to be but I still cant even outrun srt4's really pissed me off today. Somedays it will run like a kicked dog. and the next it will fall on its freakin face and embarrass the sh*t out of me.
Help

Re: TPI woes
I would say it needs a good tune and you might be getting bad gas. My car runs like a dog when I get cheap gas, but when I get the good stuff (most of the time) it runs like a raped ape. The computer pulls out a lot of ignition lead due to detonation and that's why it runs so bad, I've checked it with my scanner to verify I'm correct.

Yeah thats the thing with SD....it NEEDS to be tuned after a cam swap , etc to take advantage of the mods. Me being MAF ... I swapped in a ZZ4 cam ( close to yours) and hi flow TPI , SLP headers. I had the 305 tune in it still and she purred like a kitten.

Re: TPI woes
I really like the SD setup. Im not sure If I could tune it myself the way you are seeing. I probably need a dyno tune. I live in Abilene Tx though so Dallas would probably be the closest place to me to get that done. I only put 89 or higher gas in it, the car runs even worse with plain ol' 87 octane. cant really notice a difference with 93octane. Its getting a tuneup very soon. If somebody knows how to tune them myself I am open for suggestions on the hardware and software to do something like this.
I forgot the car also has
22 lb injectors and a AFPR to compliment them.

Invest in a wideband O2 sensor and some ALDL Data logging equipment and you can go far. It will require you study and learn a lot but all the information you need is available (albeit with some pain) on the web. You can support future mods this way and also see the effects of the mods you make not to mention it's a hell of a lot of fun (well, for me anyway).

I had a 350 TPI engine, L98 aluminum heads, TPIS runners/intake, SLP headers, ZZ4 camshaft, 1.6 rockers, and running the 305/5-speed tune in it, and it purred like a kitten to the tune of 13.23 @ 107 MPH. And mine is speed density. I didnt have to get into prom burning until I swapped in the LT4 hot cam.

Funny how we seem to disagree a lot.

Re: TPI woes
Thanks for the replies guys. I put a new tuneup on it and a 6AL with the MSD coil. I think it cleared alot of things up It does need a tune though. I sprung an exhaust leak somewhere under the bottom and now it is retarding my timing like crazy. It runs freaking great until its warmed up and in closed loop. then it stutters and starts F'ing up. I did manage to outrun a 96 v6 mustang LOL thank god. I didnt want to burn my car to the ground.
