idle problem
idle problem
i just picked up a 91 305 tpi. when i start the car the idle jumps to 1500 and then within 10-15 seconds jumps down to 1100 and remains. it's been so long since i've worked on a tpi, what controls this so i can get the idle closer to the factory 750 rpm range on startup? the car ha 170k miles so i'm assuming maybe something is bad or needs adjustment.. thanks in advance!!

on first start up when the engine is cold it should idle high around 1200-1300 rpm then slowly go down from there to about 750-800 alteasr mine does and it runs great.

From what I seen, the standard seems to be 1000 rpm cold, 750 warm in park.

make sure to clean your throttle plates,right behind were they shut builds a little ridge and allow extra air
