Whats the CR of the engine? Might want to start out with a cooler plug, than a hotter one. use a dab of antiseize on the threads with aluminum heads.

I run an Autolite 3923 on a 10.5:1 355 running the AFR/LPE219/Superram combo. They are two heat ranges colder than stock.

Why are you using the 1003? I use NGK FR4s with my aluminum heads.

Re: what is the best spark plug

I work with a race team that runs a sprint car and all they will run is NGK. I also have a boat with twin V8's and my Mercury Marine Mechanic also swears by NGK's. They say all the other brands don't seem as reliable. If you are worried about the temperatures you can always gap differently for your application.

I normally use a Champion RC12YC, which are a cooler plug. I would rather use a colder plug in my tuning, to begin with, as the only problem would be "fouling" if they are too cold, as compared to a hotter plug with the CR I have, and while utilizing a more aggressive spark table, in my eprom. Every car is different, but this is what I use, and do, for the correct heat range on my car.

Re: what is the best spark plug

I'm also running the Autolite 3923's (approx 10.5:1 383) and they seem to be too hot still for my motor. The color mark on the ground strap is about halfway between the threads on the plug and the bend in the round strap.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? The 3923's just seem like they should be perfect...
