pulling codes..doesnt seem to be working
Hey all. I just tried to pull codes on my 86 iroc but the check engine light wasnt even registering that i had grounded the diagnostic wire. It is supposed to flash code 12 right? I didnt even get that..all i got is my fan turning on.

yup those are the two i was jumping. Nothing happened with my check engine light so i thought maybe it was burned out. I replaced the bulb and same thing..radiator fan turned on when i jumped the two (A and B) but nothing else.

I am no expert on this so ...don't rush out and do anything K .
No code 12 has ment on here that the ECM is shot. What I would do next is swap it for another ECM and see if that cures the problem

bringing it up from the dead since i have time to fool around under my hood. What would cause a computer to fry? Something improperly grounded i assume?

Check the ECM fuse.. Check that first. Also voltage spikes from voltage regulator, clean connection on your Batt. Have you modified anyting lately? You could have put a screw threw some wires.

Re: pulling codes..doesnt seem to be working
I havent modified anything lately so it shouldnt be a wiring problem. The voltage regulator is fine if i can trust my volt gauge. Im going to look at the ECU fuse and see if its blown.

Ok just checked the fuses and they are all good..including the ECU ignition fuse. I dont know if i said this before but the car does run and drive but it has some problems that i originally thought were MAF related but now am not so sure.
