cam install??

Ok I have a 305 tpi auto it runs 13.7's on good tires and 13.9 on bald.

But my question is I want to change the cam in it. I have just the cam in the garage, What else needs to be replaced when doin a cam swap?

I plan on replacing timeing chain just because it kinda jumps when reading timing.

springs
retainers
stems
.......................

What must be changed. For now. I plan on tearing it down this winter and rebuilding it but for now what should be replaced just to make sure it still runs good and gets me through this season.

Any ideas or imput would be great.

Also how big is to big of a cam to where I have to tune my computer b/c of the lack of vaccum or somthing of that sort?

Re: cam install??

A 91 left the factory with a roller cam, so you could just replace the cam itself and reuse everything else. You'd get much better results though if you replaced the springs at the same time to match the cam. Replacing the timing chain is a good idea, but it won't affect your jumping timing at all.

Re: cam install??

The Crane 2032 cam that I have is as big (duration) as you can go with a stock 305 TPI and stock chip. A little more lift would be fine if you mod the heads to handle it.

Cam: Crane Powermax 2032 452/465 214(270)/220(276) 112 deg., 1800 to 5800 RPM (2000 to 5500 RPM), P/N 104224 $289.95 @ summit.
Lift (1.52 rockers): 0.458"/0.471"
Lift (1.6 rockers): 0.482"/0.496"
Duration @ 50: 214/220
LSA: 112 degrees
