Re: 89 Trans Am starting issue

I had a similar problem that went away for about a year when I replaced the distributor. Problem is now back, and the distributor checks out fine.

I'm at a total loss, and the car is all but a big giant paperweight because I can't drive it anywhere.

Have you tested your ignition module? Take it off and take it to autozone theyll test it for free. $25 or something like that for a new one. I had some starting issues to after two days of tuning and checking everything cause car would run like crap like not all the cylinders were firing when it did turn on and i decided to check that out and there it was. Good luck.

$25 or something like that for a new one.
Keep in mind you can get good (more expensive) ACDelco modules that are known to be the better choice, or you can get various aftermarket (known to be crap) modules.

Everything works for SOMEbody, but as a rule, ACDelco/GM modules are by FAR the better choice.
