ZZ3 cam in a 305

I spun a bearing in my ZZ3 motor and am now left with my ported and polished ZZ3 heads,ZZ3 cam and 1.6rr. The original 305 is back in the car. How do you guys think the heads and cam would work in a 305? I already have a ported intake, 52mm TB and a 3" exhaust and the custom chip from the ZZ3 motor. I'd really any input you guys have.

The heads would work pretty well, I believe. The problem, I think, lies in the lift of the ZZ3 cam. I tried getting info on a ZZ3 cam in a 305, and I seem to remember someone saying that, for some strange reason, the 305 could not handle the high lift of that particular cam. I am not sure if it was piston to valve clearaance or what. Someone fill both of us in

I believe the combo you are describing will work on a 305 with no problems, but to be on the safe side you should check you piston to valve clearance. You should have .100 min clearance on the exhaust and .080 min clearance on the intake.

I'm not sure of the specs of the ZZ3 cam, but the cam I have in my 305 is from SLP and the #'s read as follows: 218I 224E @114degree lobe seperation. Every other company in the U.S. said it couldn't be done, but as you can see SLP prevails again. I pull 12lbs of vaccum with a nice idle.

ZZ3/ZZ4 cam is 208/221 .474/.510 and 112 LSA I dont see why that couldnt work great in a 305, and I know people who have used L98/ZZ3/ZZ4 heads on 305's.

I think the ZZ3 cam should work great in the 305, I also have a friend running the smaller SLP one, and it works great, so I say go for it.
