Help me choose a cam for this engine
My engine just blew Friday and I'm going to replace it. I just found this engine and since I'm on a non-existant budget this seems the best way to go.
However, the cam is puny! Smaller than the stock one even!
So, help me choose a cam that will work well with this engine with a long runner TPI manifold (not SR or MR!). How would a ZZ4 or LT4 hot cam work with this combo?
Thanks

Hey Scott! I'm kinda in the same boat too!
(can't find the damn paddles!)
I'm going back with stock heads and base just realy hogged out,2.02/1.60 valves and the ZZ-4 cam with 1.6RR. This won't be an11sec car but high 12's should be near. Kevin91Z has the same basic combo and he gets 13.20's I believe.I called a PROM burning ad in the back of some mag and they even suggested it.If you do get a GM cam definately check out Scoggins Dickey parts online they have great prices.
Good luck on the rebuild!

For any of you guys that read the CorvetteForum board you'll know that I post there a lot and that I just pulled my 355 and put in a 415 in my 86 Vette.
The 355 was completely rebuilt last fall (got all the receipts too)and it has only a couple of thousand miles on it. I'm retired and don't drive that much anymore.
Anyway, I had all the good stuff done to it and it's for sale. I live in DeSoto, just south of Dallas so you can come by to take a look.
I will sell it short block, 3/4 or complete (complete less a TPS, IAC, Water temp sensors, distributor and water pump) $750/$1,000/$1,500 if you're interested.
