Fuel Rail Pressure
Fuel Rail Pressure
When I key my car to the on position after it has been sitting and fuel pressure has dropped off will I see instant pressure at the schraeder valve on the fuel rail if my relay is working correctly? It is a 86 305 TPI motor.

Re: Fuel Rail Pressure
It should pop up to between 41 and 47 psi within a few seconds of the key being on if your priming system is working. You should clearly hear the pump running (that means turn your stereo off for a minute.)
Even if the computer is a bit confused (this happens with old age, I hear!) you should attain this pressure after cranking the engine until you have oil pressure on the gauge.
Your relay is turned on by the computer for priming purposes and is latched on by the oil pressure switch during normal operation.
