Gutted Airboxes

I have heard of many people on this board gutting their airboxes and I have always been curious on how to do it.. Does anybody have any tips or experiences on doing this? Thanks for any help....

Yarnboy, next time your at the strip, try removing your air filters too. I take my K&N's out and pick up around 2 MPH from just this. Oh yea, my air boxes are gutted too.

You just simply cut everything out that there is, so when you take out the air filters, all you can see is the ground and the fog light tubes.

Do you have the ram air setupd, if so...aren't you worried about rocks and whatnot falling in your engine? I wouldn't ever remove the air filters, it catches all the little stuff to prevent engine damage. If your just taking them off, create a ram air for about $30 and I can almost guarantee a better peak in performance.

Well think about this, when your at the track and you take out your filters your only driving like 5 mph around the track until you get into the staging lanes, right? Your not gonna suck up rocks into your engine. Maybe a little more dust if anything. Its a free mod. Save the 30$ for track money, for more testing.
