There's been a lot of tests floating around in magizines and such that show that a 48mm is fine up till 400 or more horespower, besides that the MAF sensor (even fully ported) wouldn't flow as much as a 58 or52mm throtle body . so no, not a wise investment.$300 bucks, get a staLL converter.

A fully modified MAF will flow 750cfm (TPIS #'s) and a 52mm throttle body flows 750cfm as well. I will argue on the quality of the BBK/Edelbrock tb's as I think they lack quality (I own one). When I got mine the are in between the throttle bores were still rough cast and I had to contour it to shape with a few different files. I was rather pissed it wasn't a nice machined finish as the pic. shows in JEGs. THe only good thing about them is they are one of the cheaper priced tb's to buy. Guess its a get what you pay for kind of thing or else I just got screwed by JEGs with a bunk tb.

The stock tb flows 668cfm on it's own and 709cfm with an airfoil,, so really you're not increasing your flow potential (40cfm) enough to make the car sprout wings.

I'd have to go with no,, don't bother,, I wouldn't have but my stock one was wore out and had to much play in the throttle blades to where I'd have to tap the gas every time stopping to get the idle to settle back down.

put your headers in your sig!

if you get an aftermarket tb, get a holley. they have a smooth transition between the bores (unlike bbk), and they're cheaper. The only thing I had to do on mine was put 1 washer between the tps and tb so the tps arm would move freely.
