2001 Mustang GT
2001 Mustang GT
I drove one today and was really impressed. Sorry but the car felt great to drive. Ther gears were tight and quick(5 speed). Handeling was tight and aggressive (17" wheel package). So I decided to romp it a little and was kinda dis apointed. The engine wanted to go hard, but I could feel the gearing wasn't enogh for the OHC engine. Then I power sifter a 2-3 and hit the gears smoothly but the cluthch was wayyyyy to weak for this. Slippage ran wild. I would say this car would be able to drop 3-5 tenths off its 1/4 mile with a High po clutch and a set of 3.73 gears. This car had no problem with Traction on thos big tires, but it was harder than hell to see out of. Im not sure what the factory specs are on these, but it felt like a loe 14 sec car right out of the box and maybe a 13.5 - 13.9 car with a better clutch and gear. Well lemme know what you guys think.

Now take a test drive in a new Camaro or Firebird with an LS1 and 6 spd. You will see why the LS1 spanks the Mustangs every time!

I know, I am just saying that the Mustang could be faster from the factory if they would have done some common things that wouldn't be to hard. Say equip them with a 3.4X rear and a stronger clutch. This would wake them up.
