Two different XFI 268 HR13 cams?

Can soemone shed some light on this for me. I was browsing part numbers on summit, and noticed there are two different part numbers for very similar cams. I can't seem to tell them apart. The PN's are CCA-07-466-8 and CCA-08-466-8

What gives, any help would be appreciated. Other than the price, I don't see a difference.

One's an LT1 cam, the other isn't.

Ah, good to know. I sent an email to them asking the same question (on a different cam) and haven't gotten a response back.

Right. They make 3 versions that I'm aware of. One for the early none roller blocks. One for the L98 motors and the last one for the LT1 motors. I'm running the XFI268 with very good results.

Re: Two different XFI 268 HR13 cams?

Which one is the LT1 cam and which one is the L98 cam? Is the dowel the only difference? 100 bucks seems like a big difference from one car to another. I need to know which one to get. Thanks

Re: Two different XFI 268 HR13 cams?

07- is for a gen 2 SBC, has the longer pin for the opti.
08- is for a gen 1 SBC factory hyd roller setup.
12- is the 'retrofit' cam for gen 1 SBC.

Comp cams has a breakdown for grind numbers on their site, somewhere.

Re: Two different XFI 268 HR13 cams?

So, theoretically, I can buy the 100 dollar cheaper cam, and shave the pin to work on a gen I. Is that correct?

It should work just fine. Everyone has to do the same mod to the dowel pin when they put the GM LT4 Hotcam in a L98. I bought a used Comp XR276HR cam from a guy here on the site that was for the LT1 motor (part#CCA-07-503-8). He was running it in a L98 motor, and all he did was shorten the dowel pin on it. The only other difference with the LT1 versions is that they have a fairly deep hole in the nose that's for the opti-spark distributor shaft to go in, but it doesn't affect anything, just looks a little different cosmetically.

That's ridiculous that it's 75 dollars more for the one with the shorter dowel. I am ordering the cheaper of the two and I will post results soon. Thanks guys
