Doing my firebird right
Hello everyone, I'm new to the site and was hoping that someone could clear up some questions that I have about my firebird. Right now, I have a 305ci TBI 1989 Firebird Formula. I want to make it into a 331 stroker with TPI and Aluminum corvette heads(58cc chamber, intake 1.55, exhaust 1.95) with maybe a 40,000volt coil, but really don't know where to start to even find the parts for the TPI or if the stock TPI is better/worse than an aftermarket. If anyone could help suggest a website it would be very helpful.
Another question, will the 331 stroker get better performance than just a 305 and if so, will it do better off the line, 1/4 mile or highend speed?

If you're swapping everything out, you might as well do the block too.. Pick up a used 350, then you can stroke it out to a 383
If you can score a cheap TPI 350 with the TPI plumbing and the ECM and wiring, you've got a lot of shopping and work taken care of. If you can find a Vette TPI 350, then all the better.......

I understand that a 383 would be far better for power and everything than stroking out a 305 into a 331, but I'm still kinda hoping to get good gas milage... y'know, like me not watching my speedomater race against my fuel gauge. I want something that is pretty original, not something that you see everyday, but still be able to drive it to work and roast the tires... infact, I might just go with a 6 speed manual to boot. (or get another firebird.. maybe a GTA.. hehehe)
I thank you for the insight into the wiring, I'll try to look for those parts and get this project up and running. until then, please, if you have anymore insight into any ideas, I'd love to hear what others think and maybe alittle bit of their experiance doing this themselves.
