Plenum porting services available
I'm enjoying my die grinder! I've been doing plenums since the fall, and each person that's received one has been happy with the work.
I've been on Thirdgen.org nearly since inception, and have several tech articles on the board. If you want me to do your plenum, visit my website for the details. Prices are cheap, overhead is low, and I can turn it around in about one week or less.

Hey Dan, would you happen to do any head work as well? I got a set a L98 aluminum heads and I want to remove all those casting imperfections, on the intake and exhaust ports. If you don't would you know about how much I should look to spend on something like this? Thanks

As you may know, I ported my own cylinder heads for my 305 and chopped 1.5 seconds off the quarter mile time. my 305 is now nearly 101 MPH in the quarter mile with iron 305 heads.
Based on that experience, I'd say the cost for doing the bowl work & gasket match would be about $300. I put 25 hours into my iron heads, and your aluminum heads would probably go faster. I spend about $5 per hour on electricity, and about $5 per hour on grinding materials, carbide cutters, and wear on my grinders. Assuming I get the job done in 16 hours, that would put my labor at about $10 / hour.
I can't see doing the porting in any less time, if we wanted it done right. Email me for more details.
Cheers,
Dan

Hey guys, I figured this is the best place to ask this question. I'm looking to buy a plenum and ship it to Dan to get ported. My question is, Will a 87 tpi plenum fit my 89? Is there any differences or are they the same? Thanks

As far as I know the only difference in any tpi base is the intake bolt pattern on the 85-86 vs. 87-92. You shouldn't have any problem unless you get a 'vette base w/ no EGR provisions.

I have a 1985-1988 casting and a 1989-up casting here, and the difference is in the very front of the plenum. The 1985-1988 casting has a triangular hole that is open to the throttle body, and connects to the cold-start injector circuit, I believe. The 1989-up plenum doesn't have this hole, and the floor of the plenum is not contoured to accomodate the passage. Other than that, they are similar.
Since this thread is getting non-technical in nature, and I'm feeling kind of self-concious about my shameless marketing tactics,
I suppose I should ask that anything non-technical in nature (such as inquiries on pricing, delivery, etcetera) take place via email. I also have a little bulletin board on my hobbyist site, if you want to use it for this purpose.
Otherwise, if there are any technical questions on the porting details, those are probably still appropriate for this forum.
Here's my humble little third-gen TPI page, with some of the porting details. Browse up to the main fcar page, and over to the weekly project notes if you want to ask any buisness-oriented questions in a public forum.
