thats your original question which asks no real question thats what the guy prior to me meant..........
anyways knowing im a good mind reader
i think you want to know if its worth it to save for the 350 car over the 305 car and if either are reliable.
ok as for reliability i beleive these cars are very very reliable, there are few week links (i got my first 1 when i was 16 and drove it until 18 with no major problems whatsoever). not that general repair work doesnt come in to play with things like alternator, battery, brakes, front end parts, tuneup, and usually some miscellaneous diagnostic repairs after this many years but, nothing out of the ordinary and in my opinion more durable than most. probably the only 2 main week points you may find would be the fuel pump (gm fuel pumps have always been lousy on practically everything imo), the other would possibly be overheating, which isn't hugely abnormal but, almost always a cheap easy fix.
as for the 305 vs 350, well id stay away from anything 305 and automatic. The manual 305 camaros were optioned with a bigger cam worth quite a few ponys (about 30). the 305 manuals were rated at 220hp and 300trq and the 350 autos were rated at 240 and a like 350 trq i beleive???
anyways my opinion is the 305 tpi manual and 350 auto are highly equivelant both chevy small blocks, both very durable, both hindered by the same tpi intake setup. Bolt on 305 5 speed cars can see high 13s with the right 60 footer and so have a lot of 350 cars. the automatic 700r4 is a little stronger than the t5 manual but both can be modified to take oogles of power.
305 = better gas, slightly worse performance

Re: could i get your opinion
i didnt mean that 305 tpi autos are bad they are just underpowered big time as compared to the manuals, hell i had a lo3, thats the 2nd lowelyest 305 ever put in these cars and it ran great, perfect at 162k miles on the clock i wasnt arguing that they are bad but, they arent near as fast.

Re: could i get your opinion
As far as power goes.. The 305 TPI engines were only about 10 HP and 40 ft/lbs of torque less than the 350 TPI engines......
