A.I.R Injection
I am looking to upgrade to headers and I was wondering if removing the air injection setup and smog pump will throw my computer of or harm anything?

Re: A.I.R Injection
lol yeah i took a sawsall to mine!
Mine ia an 87 so it was just cut the belt and un bolt everything.
Hardest bolt to get to is on the passanger side. It hlds the pipe that comes around from the drivers side.

Disconect the battery
1st thing to do is cut the belt to the pump (you should have a single belt just for that)
And start cutting things off to make it easy to take things off.
Like I said I used a sawsall to get rid of all thoes metal lines that go into the exhaust. Get rid of all the hoses up on top that are connected to the pump in any way.
If your getting new headers make sure you get them without the air tubes.
You can unbolt the pump and the bracket, cut the hoses and toss them in the trash.....no point in saving anything.
You can go under the car, You can remove your Y pipe. Remove your starter, & your o2 . Then start taking off your exhaust manafolds. Once thoes are out of your way you can finish taking off all the piping from the air pump. On the top of the block on the passanger side. One of the tubes is bolted down here. (it runs from the drivers side to the passanger side) And its a pain in the butt. There is also some ground wires here, so make sure you dont forget to put it back together less the tube bracket. The tranny dip stick tube might bolt on here also, I forget. Watch your oil dipstick tube when you pull the passanger side manifold out. Once everything is out, you can start in install your headers. Make sure you get some good gaskets and some nice header bolts.
Also make sure you tape up the electical connecton off the air pump.
Put your starter back in.
Install your Y pipe.
Dont forget the O2 sensor.
Reconnect the battery
I know I missed some things or some steps.
Ive done it 2 times so far, once on my car and once on my buddys 89 GTA.
