Hey guys I need your suggestions.
I am slowly buying parts for an upgrade.
so far I have a ported Edelbrock intake,TPIS semi-siamised runners(look just like the picture posted of the AS&M runners),ported plenum, adj fuel pressure reg, and air foil.
would my money be better spent on a set of AFR 23* heads or getting my stock heads ported and stroking the motor to a 383?
how much power will the ported stock heads make?
also what cam would you suggest?

If you are going with the 383, you will really need to get the AFR or TFS heads. You can use the stock ones and port them, but they just won't be able to flow like a good set of aftermarket ones. Plus, with all the money you will spend upgrading the stock ones, it will only be a couple more bucks for the AFR's. It sounds like you are on your way to building the intake. If you do go with the 383 don't skimp on heads

If I were you Id go for the 350 with the Trick flow 23* heads. I think that the extra cost of the stroker kit plus the costs for clearincing the block and the costs for porting the stock heads will alot more than you expect. Plus with a stroker you dont want to skimp on the heads, like Omega said. Build the 350 this time with the heads and save the 383 for next time.

I would stick with the 350 but save your money and port your stock heads!! I say this of course assuming that you have 64cc heads! If you have those nasty 76cc heads then by all means ditch them and buy some 64cc aftermarket heads!! If your heads ARE in fact 64cc heads just have them pocket ported....according to my desktop dyno, pocket porting will get you 50-75 HP gain depending of course on other factors involved!! If you do decide to go with aftermarket heads, I have a couple suggestions! You could go with the Vortech heads from GM....their good heads with a decent runner size, however you will have to change the springs because I hear they're pretty wimpy! But for a set of heads at $500 you can't really beat that deal!! On the other hand you can do what I plan to do and go with the Worlds Product Sportsman-II heads! They're 64cc with 2.02/1.60 valves and have a 200cc runner size and they're only $800 for the set completely assembled!

Soon to upgrade to a 383 stroker w/TPI, Hedman Shorty Headers, 64cc Pocket Ported Worlds Product Sportsman-II heads, ported intake, comp cam, TPIS air foil, Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator, and 24 lb/hr SVO injectors!
Current project: Keeping my car running until I get the money for the above mentioned project! :-)
