Aftermarket wiring harnesses

I am in the need for another wiring harness. I am converting to speed density from mass air flow but I am giving my harness to my friend so reworking mine in not an option. I know of 4 places that make TPI harnesses. Painless, Howell, Speed and performance, and lastly Fuel injection specialties. As I have heard Painless is pretty much crap, they harness is too short, so I have basically ruled them out. Speed and performance is way overpriced in my opinion, but I have heard there suff is pretty good. As for Howell I havent heard a whole lot from them and right now all I know is they never responded to my email. Last is Fuel injection specialties. I dont really know anything about them. I remember seeing another site that did wiring harnesses but I lost all my bookmarks.
If anyone knows any more on any of these companies, or has positive or negative comments on any of them please let me know. Or if you know of any other sources.

James

You might want to try putting in a parts request to www.thirdgenparts.com . They sell used camero/firebird stuff, and you will then have the correct harness with no rewiring needed...

Oh well...

Have you tried going to a GM dealer and getting them to put out a request on the national parts locator service? I have had some success with that.
Make sure you go to a friendly GM dealer though...

I had to put an engine harness in an Astro Van, and it was $800, so if you think Street and performance was pricey.... Not to mention the age. GM usually stocks "quick sell" items, like window motors, injectors, etc... Engine harnesses, not likely.

I Have used Fuel injection specialties and I thought their service was great my wiring harness had a melt down and had to be cumpletely almost rebuilt while they had it I had them change it to the offroad harness they removed all the emissons stuff for me and even added enough to the harness to put my ignition box on the fender well. They told me it would be three weeks before I get it back. But while they had it I threw a rod in my truck and was with out a ride so I asked them if they could get it to me quicker and I ended up getting it back in about 10 days .every thing came out to $214 and I sent it with the head light harness and he even put new cunectors on it as well. pluss they replace all the wire looms so it looks good when you get it back.

Thanks Earl, that is what I wanted to hear. I have written to the tech guy a whole bunch and he got back to me pretty quickly. I think I will go with them. As for TPIS I think for what they charge it should be solid gold. I think I would make my own harness before I went with them. As lastly as far as GM, I think I would have a better chance of walking up to someone on the street in NY and asking them if I could have their liver for a transplant. Nay, I have inquired about other harnesses from GM. GMTech is right, they only stock stuff they know will sell a lot of. Thanks a lot guys for your help.
If anyone has any more to add would be appreciated.

James

There right by my house, and its a good shop. They have a room with 2 guys that do nothing but make up harnesses. The owner just passed not to long ago but I still think its a good shop.
