will this add a significant increase in power

i was going to get either some high flo runners , 58 mm tb and a comp cam OR new aluminum heads. they both end up costing about the same and i wanted to know which ones would make more hp or a large difference in horse power cause i am only looking to spend about 1.5k on this car

if you still have the 305 in there, I'd say heads. Big power gain are in the heads, and try to save a bit more for a cam. 85 are non-roller so it should be like 100 bucks for cam. 305's don't need 58mm and or aftermarket intake stuff, unless you are supercharged. While you are at it, clean up the intake (port match it) and you should be all set!!

later

85 Z28, 355, edelbrock base, SLP runners (old style) 58mmTB, ported plenum, stock cam, fuel reg, TES headers, flowmaster, 3.73's, shift kit, MSD 6a, 305 hypertech chip (YUUUCK!) best prior intake mods: 14.6 @ 94, 2.02 60' temp: 78deg, 80% moist, on radials.
69SS, black, 3,73's, TH400, 402 BB, roller everything (solid 246@50 622 lift)+stud-guirdle, 67 Vette heads ported and o-ringed, about 10:1 cr KB pistons, should be done this summer, goals: 500hp and lots of fun

i say go with the cam! if its a hyd roller then you'll get great increase in tourqe and lots of hp! remember: the cam is the brain of any engine!! any engine!! it decides the valve events, how it idles, what it sounds like and how she runs! everything! then later put a tb , heads (qutie a investment!) but well worth it! remember not to go over a 200cc intake runner on street heads. then do the plenum and runners!

Mods: converted from T.B.I. to a carburator 305 to a 350. Flowmater exhaust,hedman shortie hedders,202 heads,350 horse cam,bored.40 over, Edlebrock torker2 and a 600 edlebrock manual choke.

Future mods performer rpm air gap intake (polished) and , comp roller cam, and way better headsa 400 defintely in the works!

Mirage is right about everything. Heads are where the most power is trapped on lots of engines, good heads will ALWAYS help your car out lots. A 58mm TB is ment more for 350 cid or larger engines using mini ram or super ram induction. High flow intake parts usually only work well on 350s and above when lots of other mods have been done. Plenum and base porting do lots for any cid engine too. Make sure you have a high flow exhaust, good ignition and a good cam, and your 305 will hang with most 350s!
