Can anyone tell me what the difference between 1, 2, or 3 bar MAP sensors is? I have to replace mine from my 91Z, it cracked when it switched runners. Summit has a 1 bar Accel on sale.....Please help!!!

You have a 1 bar MAP and you can't even use anything else without out serious modification to your eprom/ecm as I understand it.

 

That confuses me even more....I thought the L98s' had 3-bar MAPs????

 

"Bar" means "atmospheres". Our MAPs can only read up to 1 atmosphere (just over 100 Kpa at sea level) or 1 Bar. Only turbo SD vehicles (Syclone/Typhoon) got 2 bar MAPs because of their boost.

Only gm application that uses the 3 bar is the Turbo Trans Am and that is for the dash boost indicator.

The syclones thyfoons, and turbo sunbirds use the 2 bar.

Everything else is 1 bar or Baro
