Will an aftermarket TPI intake help increase torque?

Any input? I am collecting parts to convert my carbureted system to TPI. This is a street rod and I won't be doing any high RPM driving. I intend to install a cam that will produce max HP by 4750. Thanks for your help.

tpi from gm is high torque at low rpm. after market parts will increase torque and the rpm range.

If you are contemplating a TPI swap, you might want to look at this:

<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=554630716">Complete '89 Valvetrain on ebay</a>

This is everything between(and including) the camshaft and the valvecovers, except the springs(which should be replaced anyways). The '88 - 89 camshaft was the largest stock unit in TPI motors(longest duration and highest lift) but is still mild enough to work with any computer. If you wait until the end of the auction you might pick it up for $75 or less(the camshaft by itself often sells for $80+). I'd bid on this myself(I am contemplating converting my TBI truck to TPI), but the seller will only ship to the U.S.

Hopefully this won't be deemed an inappropriate post(I have nothing to gain by bringing this to anyone's attention).

Don't retrofit to TPI, carbs. are much much cheaper and give a really big bang for the buck. Put some good heads, decent cam, good aftermarket intake, full exhaust and carb and you are producing 400 hp at half the price of a TPI (assuming it's a 350). On top of all this, the are many things to go wrong with FI. and sometimes it seems like you are just going to hell, together with your TPI set up. I have a 88 GTA with TPI (of course) and the cost for parts is unbelievable. I am running fairly decent, but the car runs really rich, especially at idle. I bet many people will say burn your own chip or buy one, but at what price??? $300-400?, besides it has always run rich, even when stock and never been able to find the cause. TPI is way too expensive to tune and fix.
I thought about changing my TPI to carb, but I chikened out because I didn't want my daily driver in the garage for more than a week and I already had the Hi-Flo base which I adquired for free and other parts then I bought for a fairly low price.
If you want good mileage, spend big money and get FI, if you want real cheap power stay with the carb.
