Can a ZZ4 cam be used in a 305??
My 305 has a stock bottom end, but I have L98 aluminum heads, TPIS Big Mouth Base, SLP runners, ported plenum, 3in cat and cat back, msd ignition, SLP cold air, etc.
The only things I don't have is a cam and rockers. So I'm wondering if I can use the ZZ4 cam in my 305. the spec's they list are .474/.510 and 208/221 @ .050, I don't know what the LSA is though.
TIA

by the way this is going to be a street car, that will see the track once in a while. So What I need to know is will this particular cam give me decent drivability as well.

The ZZ4 cam's LSA is 112 degrees. With the mods you have, this cam will work great in your engine, at least IMHO. I know of a guy that had a 350 with a 210/220 cam and the L98 heads that was ended up running high 13's at a little over 100 mph. Have fun!

Make sure to check spring coil bind and the clearance on the exhaust side from the retainer to the seal/guide on those heads. It should work ok (mine did) but they are not all created equally from what I understand. A machinist friend of mine says he has seen some only capable of .495 before the locks hit the guide, so beware. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks guys,
I just ordered mine today. I talked to the guys over at Scoggin Dickey and he said the stock springs should be fine, but I may go ahead and replace them anyway.
One last thing since the lift is pretty high, should I stay with 1.5 rockers or go up to the 1.6's. I know that if I go with the 1.6 I will defenitly have to change springs.

With the flow characteristics of the L98 heads, I don't think you'll gain anything by going with more lift on the exhaust side, but the intake could stand to use some more. With 1.6 rockers on the intake and 1.5 on the exhaust, your lift would be .506/.510 and the intake duration @.050" would increase 2-3 degrees too.
You might still need to get new valvesprings due to the exhaust lift, but that's something you might have to check out once the cam's installed. If you can't afford a bunch of down-time, you might as well play it safe and replace the springs...
