Ok, I swapped my transmission and a couple weeks later the speedo quit working and I haven't fixed it yet!! "Sometimes" I get a SES light but it's just a VSS code! I read that the VSS reads the speedo (electic) and lets the computer know how fast you're going so that the computer can "limit" your speed! Since my speedo isn't working the computer isn't receiving a signal from the VSS and that's why the SES light trips!! Now....the REAL question here is this!! What else does the VSS do??? I've heard of people having cold start idle problems due to a bad VSS????? Is this true.... or is the sensor just simply there for the computer to limit the speed???

The vss does have an effect on the operation of the engine. The computer uses the vss to help control some of the engine functions. You should fix your vss.
