Sounds like a decent combo, but have you considered swapping to a 400 crank to make a 377? That plus the 1.75" headers will make much more power than a cam/head swap.

just my input,
ODB

Wouldn't swapping in a 400 crank make it a 383? I thought putting a 350 crank in a 400 block made a 377.

It may hurt mileage a little, but not too badly.

A 400 crank in a 350 = 377

A 400 crank in a .030" over 350 = 383

ODB is right on the displacement of a 377 and 383 using a 350 block and 400 crank.

Also, a std 400 block with a 350 crank is a 372 and a .030" over 400 block with a 350 crank is a 377.

Come on guys he wants opinions on the head/cam combo. A stroker isnt part of the plan here, he is limited on funds. Ed, the package you say will work beautifully, but dont expect as much power out of the cam and heads with those stock manifolds and upper intake. The manifolds and baseplate are the most restrictive part of a TPI system. If you clear those up w/ some nice aftermarket parts, your on your way to a 13 second car that will scare some LS1's. The G2's seem to be a great head, and that cam is a custom grind for TPI engines so its gonna give you some nice gains. TPI engines need to be "attacked" as a whole to get increases, unlike a carb application. The cam you have in your GTA is actually pretty decent. This is just my opinion here, but with limited funds i would get some used Vette heads, a set of headers, and port the hell out of the upper intake. Just remember that the baseplate cant be ported too much. You need to "Extrude hone" it. It envolves putting putty abrashive on the walls and porting them to smooth out the track. Take it to a shop that knows what the hell they are doing. Remember, you wanna play, you gotta pay.

it has also been suggested that i leave the stock L98 cam which is brand new. and do the G2 heads a set of headers(edelbrocks) and large tube runners (edelbrocks) which combo would work the best with my 1500$ budget? hmmm?will 1.6 rr's help this combo if i leave the stock cam in? with the G2 heads..
