need advise from experienced TPI'ers
Hi gang,
I am still having fuel delivery problems.
I just installed a new fuel pressure regulator and problem still exists.
When I turn the ignition on I cant get more than 35 PSI fuel pressure no matter how I adjust the regulator.
When I fire the engine the car starts and runs for about 30 seconds and fuel pressure drops to zero. Pump is running and pulling proper amps even though pressure dropped off.
Car is a new build and has no street time. engine did run and fuel pressure was good while running in shop over the last few months.
I finally got everything worked out and was ready to street test then this started.
please help
thx
jeff

Since I didnt see a before thread, and only this one.
I assume injectors are new, or atleast tested.
FPR new.
Pump atleast runs.
I'm going to guess a bad pump, or the rubber hose that goes between the pump and the "holder" popped.

Re: need advise from experienced TPI'ers
I'm assuming you retrofit TPI to an 84 T/A and you already placed a high pressure TPI pump in the fuel tank with the required special SAE30R10 gasoline resistant/submersible rubber hose from the pump to the fuel line.
Pinch/block the fuel return line. If your pressure increases, I'd suspect a bad fuel pressure regulator. If pressure does not increase, then I'd suspect the fuel pump is bad or the hose that connects from the pump to the fuel line inside the tank has come off or is broken. That rubber hose submersed in the tank must be SAE30R10. Regular fuel injection hose, SAE30R9 and regular fuel hose SAE30R7, will “melt” and burst under pressure when submersed in gasoline.

Re: need advise from experienced TPI'ers
thanks guys..every single component is brand new and I did use fuel injection hose at the pump.
My last suspicion was the pump hose and everyone that replied suspects the same thing.
bitch is I just filled the tank and took the car off the lift. Now that it dont run it is going to be fun to push it back on the lift to remove the tank.
even more of a bitch is this will be the third time I removed the tank.
First time was for the complete resto. second time was to install an intank pump instead of the in line pump I was supplied when I bought my fuel injection system.
thanks again

Jeff,
I purchased a walbro fuel pump install kit from
http://www.autoperformanceengineering.com/
I already had the walbro fuel pump, but needed the install kit with the connector, the sock filter and the J30R10 fuel hose.
The site states they don't sell the accessories by itself, but when I e-mailed they said to ignore that statement. They will sell you an install kit ($10.00). I'm not sure if they will sell you just a 6 inch section of hose ($1.50).
VR,
Alan
