A TPI Combo that Works!!

Just got done installing my new equipment. i got a Edelbrock Base (ported it myself) AS&M LTR's , Extensively Ported Plenum, MSD 22lbs Injectors to replace old leaky 22's and a BBK 52mm TB and man this car hauls a$$ now. I pins me in the seat good. I recommend this combo to everyone.

you must have done something right.

89 formula 350's run great just stock. Did yours come with aluminum heads and dual cats?

In my opinion you are approaching the optimum street motor. I have studied many torque curves of many SBC combos and my current favorite is the following: 52mm TB, ported plenum, AZS&M large tube runners, Accel base, ported L98 aluminum heads, or eqivalent. and a 211/219 Lingenfelter roller cam. This motor has a wonderful torque profile for a street car. Torque comes on strong at 2000 rpm due to the mild cam and early intake valve closing point, and is still good at 5200rpm. I am finishing a very similar combo, except I went with the 383ci. My motor is in my CJ-7 Jeep with 35" tires so I need the torque.

Mkos,

I had a similar combo before I did heads/cam MiniRam. With TPIS BigMouth base, ported plenum, 52mm TB, AS&M LTRs, and SLP headers (and other little stuff like exhaust, pullies, chip, suspension) I was able to run 13.6's@102mph. VERY strong combo.

My biggest complaint about this setup is that the car could not be launched from a stop. WAY TOO MUCH torque. I had all of that power but couldn't use it because it is impossible to plant that much torque on the street. However - this combo was deadly from a roll ...

All Natural. No Force. No Drugs. Stock Bottom End. Stock Body Panels.
Gunning for NA 11's with bigger cam, bigger stall, and bigger exhaust.

I only asked because a friend of mine ordered his 89 Formula 350 with the aluminum head engine back in 89. It ran very good.
