How many 305, 5 speed, 3,45 combos are there?

I mean, I am looking to replace my beast with a car that will still be fast, but more driveable on a daily basis. I am planning on getting a good deal of serious cash for my mint condition 87 IROC 350 and I was looking at getting an 88+ IROC or Z28 with the 305 TPI with the 5 speed and the 3.45 or 3.42 rear end and I was just curious as to how hard you think that will be to find. Thanks!

They are fairly rare, but out there. Most TPI cars are auto 305s and 350s. Why are you selling your IROC after all the time and money you've put into it?

There are some out there. I would like to find a GTA 5 speed, but have only found 6 since I started looking. I have probably seen about 20 Camaros though. Unsure if they were IROCs or Z28s, since I wasn't paying attention.

Well, you are making a smart decision. I owned an 88 Iroc-Z 350TPI 700R4 combo. I got rid of that car, and found my '89 Iroc 305 / 5 spd / 3.42 Factory Posi. My second Iroc would wipe the floor with the 350. I think the key is to find an original owner car. That is what mine was, plus it was owned by a female.

Yeah, I hear you. My car that I have now was owned by a woman and after I bought it about a million things went wrong and I had to spend freakin $2000 just replaceing parts. Plus I think its time I get a 5 speed car, I am pretty sick of having an auto.

Dan,
Since you've already replaced 2000 worth of stuff. Why not just find a 6-speed and a better rear end?

Just my 2cents.

I would do what Leirch suggested. I think it'd be cheaper, unless you have other problems with your car that you'd like to dump it.

The problem is that I have NO money and every penny that I make I have to give to my parents because I owe them over $2000. I also don't have the $3000 a 6 speed costs, plus it will cost about another $1000 to buy other parts I need to install a 6 speed in an orignally auto car. But I guess I am still in the process of considering selling my car, I may keep it, I guess I dunno yet.

I have a 87 GTA 5 speed with the Borg Warner 9 bolt, with 3.45.
Although i booted the 305 for a 350 and 3.73 in replace of the 3.45. I didn't know that i had a rare combo before i switched it.

Dan,
I understand what your saying about oweing money on the car. Thats understandable. I know that if you could get a 305/manual that it would wipe the floor with that 350. But all and all. The extra cubes in a 350 would be enough to keep me with the car. I mean, it has a 350. And i'm sure if you could swing the 305 car your looking for you'd be wanting a 350 sooner than later... i can almost guarentee that. Well unless like Kevin91z said, something is wrong with it and you want to dump it. A t-5 or 6 speed with that 350 would make the 305stick look stupid

I do understand what you all are saying. I mean, my 350 IROC kicks a$$! As soon as I can get it running right and get my new 3.42s she'll be in the mid 13s. But I guess I just have a lot of thinking to do.

They are extremely hard to find. I spent 8 freaking months trying to find my car. I wanted an 88-90 305 TPI 5 speed. I was thrilled when I found one fulled loaded. It wasn't a 3.45 car though..I think I would still be looking to this day if I would only settle for that..The 91-92 SD ones aren't rare at all..but wanted a MAF car. Good luck man..

I've been in Dan's place many of times before, but every time i get in the ole' iroc, i dunno...just makes me feel good inside (sappy yes, but it's me). Dunno, working on my engine, seeing what it does that working some more just is what made me so attached to my car.
