RPMs acting funny past 3k

Ok, ever since I've had my blower my RPMS have acted funny past 3k. They very eratically hover back and forth.

Someone suggested I was running lean, well now I have put my stock prom in and my 02 sensor readings are in the mid 900s and it has not helped the problem AT ALL! I have 24# injectors. It was even doing this on a custom prom made for the blower. What the hell is going on. I recently did a tune up. My rotor, plugs (R43TS), wires (9mm), cap are all brand new. My MSD6AL wires were soldered so I know that can't be it. And even my MSD blaster coil is brand new. What could it be??? It even does it now without the blower!! could it be the new coil?

The only code I am getting is 32. Which is EGR.

Are the actual engine RPMs fluctuating or is it just the tach? The reason I ask is that my tach needle acted funny until I got rid of my Accel 300+ race wires, and now it's fine. If it's just the tach and not the actual engine, I'd say it's some sort of interference caused by your ignition system.

It's hard to tell man. Do you think it could be the wires? It didnt start doing this until AFTER I did the MSD coil and plug wires.

hmm

It's possible and I've heard a couple people mentioning their tach jumping with performance wires. If you have an old set of AC's around you may want to swap those in just to see what it does. If it didn't start until after that then more than likely you have some interference with the tach signal, although I don't think it hurts anything but I feel for you man, it IS annoying . Do you have any radio interference when you're driving around?

EGR problems can also cause surgeing at cruise speeds, so that could be your problem as well. If the problem seems purely electrical then I doubt it's the EGR. Listen to it really carefully and get back to us.

well thanks for the help man. For what it's worth, I have been getting code 32. For my blower installation I had to put a breather on each valve cover, plug the throttle body inlet, and plug PCV valve. I don't know if that has anything to do or not. I don't think I'm getting any radio intereference. This IS so annoying. I cannot get this car 100% ok at one time. Something is always wrong. My girlfriend is convinced it's a pos.

LOL! I think your girlfriend and my wife would get along well, she hates my IROC (calls it POS too). But a man's gotta have his race car .

I don't think what you did with the PCV would cause any problems, unless you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Try some different wires if you get the chance and let us know if that helps any.

Ryan,

It's probably just your tach that's jumping around. I installed an MSD box about four years ago and my tach did the same thing above 3,000 rpm's. Try reverting back to your stock ignition just to see how the tach behaves.
